Routine Procedures: Physical examinations, vaccinations, fecal/giardia testing, etc...

Laser Surgery: We are proud to offer laser surgery as a progressive new option for our clients who want the safest and least painful treatment for their pets.  This is how it works:  A laser is an intense beam of light.  Using an instrument that allows it to be precisely controlled, the laser replaces the traditional scalpel.  Laser energy instantly vaporizes the water found in tissues, allowing it to "cut" or essentially remove an extremely small area of tissue.  The energy seals nerve endings and blood vessles as it moves through the tissue, resulting in less bleeding, less pain, and virturally no trauma to surrounding tissue.  Consult with our veterinarians and discuss whether laser surgery is the best option for your pet.

Benefits of Laser Surgery:

Less Pain: The laser seals nerve endings as it moves through tissue.  Your pet will feel less pain after surgery.

Less Bleeding: The laser seals small blood vessls during surgery, resulting in less bleeding and quicker procedures.

Less Swelling: With laser technology, only light comes into contact with the tissue, causing minimal swelling.

Extreme Precision: The laser enables your surgeon to only affect or remove the target tissue, leaving the healthy surrounding tissue untouched.

Reduced Risk of Infection: The high heat of laser energy kills bacteria and microorganisms as it moves through diseased areas, reducing the chance of infection.

Quicker Recovery: For all of the above reasons, your pet is likely to feel less discomfort after surgery, and return home to normal activities sooner.

Recommended Procedures for Laser Surgery: Declaw, Spay, Neuter, Tumor Removal, Skin Tags, Cyst Removal, Soft Palate Procedures, Gingival & Dental Surgery and much more.

Cryosurgery: It is the application is extreme cold to destroy abnormal or diseased tissue.  It is used to treat a number of diseases and disorders, mainly skin conditions.  Cryosurgery is a minimally invasive procedure which is often preferred to more traditional kinds of surgery because of its minimal pain and the ability to use this procedure on awake animals.  Warts, moles, skin tags and small skin cancers are all candidates for cryosurgical treatment.

Laboratory Services: We have an on site veterinary laboratory that can provide comprehensive blood test results within fifteen minutes.  This service is especially valuable for emergency situations or for pre-anesthetic screens.

Radiology: Hoboken Animal Hospital is equipped with a state of the art digital x-ray system.  Our TruDr Digital Detector is the highest resolution, large format, Medical Grade Flat Panel receptor available in veterinary medicine.  The resulting highest quality images are then interpreted by our staff of veterinarians or by consulting board certified radiologists.

Ultrasound:  Our hospital is equipped with a portable on-site ultrasound unit.  Ultrasonography is a diagnostic medical imaging technique used to visualize many internal organs.  It can assess their size, structure, and pathological lesions.  In most instances ultrasonographic examinations can be performed on awake veterinary patients.  Images can be immediately assessed by a veterinarian.  For more challenging cases the images we obtain can be assessed by a consulting board certified radiologist.

Pulse Oximeter:
This instrument monitors arterial blood oxygen saturation in a non-invasive manner.  Pulse oximetry can provide early and hence valuable information regarding problems in the delivery of oxygen to tissue.  We use this instrument to monitor patients during routine anesthetic procedures or to spot check clinically ill animals.

Tonopen: This is a hand held instrument that obtains fast and accurate readings of intraoccular pressure on awake dogs and cats.  This instrument allows veterinarians to diagnose and treat glaucoma and uveitis, two common and potentially serious eye diseases.

Doppler Blood Pressure Systems: The Doppler is the preferred instrument for obtaining non-invasive, painless, accurate systolic readings in awake dogs and cats.  All geriatric pets should be checked routinely for high blood pressure.
